Last Player Profile From The Duke Chronicle - Jeremy Roach
As the captain prepares to move on
Remember when people thought it might be a good idea for Jeremy Roach to leave Duke after last season? That the backcourt might be too crowded?
Didn’t exactly happen that way.
Roach started of course and provided tremendous leadership to a young team. He played well throughout the season, other than an unfortunate slump at the end.
As you know, he’s decided to take his Covid year somewhere else and the leading candidates are apparently Arkansas, Kentucky and St. John’s. Someone pointed out that that’s the current Kentucky coach and two of his predecessors in Lexington which is interesting.
And Hunter Dickinson made this really intriguing post/pitch for Kansas.
That’s all as will be though.
Roach turned out to be a Blue Devil a lot of people will remember. It’s been a while since we had a significant four-year player, hasn’t it? Jordan Goldwire took his last year at Oklahoma. Javin DeLaurier had a good but not great career and of course Jack White stuck around for four years and grew into a tremendous player. And Grayson Allen finished up in 2017-18.
We just haven’t had that bonding experience much in recent years.
It was really nice to get to know the player and person Roach became over four years. Duke fans will miss him.
