I told my husband I’m having a baby with my best friend…he’s fuming but we decided not to have kids
DECIDING to have a baby is no easy decision to make – and is often a topic that couples discuss over the course of their relationship.
But one 26-year-old woman has told how she and her husband decided against having kids…so she opted to have one with her best friend instead.
Taking to Reddit, she explained how her 26-year-old best friend, who is gay and married to his partner, wanted to have a baby and was going to be the donor.
“Him and his partner asked me if I’d be their egg donor as they want the baby’s ‘mum’ involved in the baby’s life,” the woman continued.
However, she went on to say that while she was “on board,” when she mentioned this to her husband, he was “furious.”
She added: “He said he didn’t like the idea of his wife having a baby with another man.”
Despite reassuring her other half that they’d basically be the “baby’s aunt and uncle,” she noted that he was not OK with it and stopped talking to her.
Baffled by her hubby’s response, the woman went on to ask social forum users whether they thought she was the one in the wrong – and people were quick to reply.

“Sounds like you can either carry this couples baby or have a husband. Your choice,” wrote one.
A second penned: “Agreeing before even discussing it with him was hugely dismissive and disrespectful.
“He’s perfectly entitled to be hurt and angry. Why did you think it would go any other way?”
A third commented: “Feel like you really should have discussed this in detail with your husband before simply declaring that it was going to happen.
“Deciding to get pregnant is not something you should do on a whim without involving your partner first.”
Meanwhile, a fourth noted:”You and your husband chose not to have kids and now you’re going to have a baby with someone else?
“Sure, your best friend and his husband will be the ‘parents’ but that will still be your kid and you plan on being involved in the child’s life.
“So it’s not exactly hard to understand why your husband is upset with this.”
A further went on to note that while it’s nice of her for wanting to “help a friend,” her husband has a “valid reason” to be upset about it.
“You didn’t talk to him at all before agreeing to help your friend,” the social forum user continued.
” You need to ask yourself if you care about your friend more than your husband because your actions definitely say you do.
“If you feel adamant about going through with helping them knowing your husband’s objection he has every right to leave the ‘partnership’ you two have created.”
