Memorial Day parade

The city’s annual Memorial Day Parade is set for May 27.
Applications are being accepted to take part in the parade. Events that day also include a volunteer firefighters’ pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.; a historical society walk; and Kiddo school foundation carnival with rides.
An after-parade party is planned at Friends Field.

SAN RAFAEL
Man accused of
shooting at driver
A San Rafael man was arrested after police said he shot at a driver who was sitting in his car.
The driver reported the incident at Rice and Andersen drives to police around 7:30 p.m. Monday. The bullet went through the windshield and missed him.
Detectives identified the suspect, who had an ongoing dispute with the alleged victim, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. Officers located the suspect around 4 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Andersen Drive and Irwin Street and took him into custody.
Efrain Hernandez-Gonzalez, 26, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, resisting a police officer, violating probation, and failing to register as a sex offender. He was booked into Marin County Jail, where he’s being held without bail, according to jail records.

Youth art event
planned at school
Student artwork is sought for the May Mental Health Youth Art and Film Showcase on May 11.
The event, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be held at Terra Linda High School, 320 Nova Albion Way.
Poetry, music, dance and videos centered on themes of hope, social justice and connection are encouraged. Live performances may also be included. Submit art at tinyurl.com/4n558pve.
The event is hosted by the Suicide Prevention Youth Action Team, the Marin County Office of Education, Marin County Youth Commission and Marin 9 to 25/Find your way.
