NYS Budget deadline extended to April 11
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The state budget deadline has been extended from its original April 1 deadline. It is now due April 11.
The deadline has been extended a few times, originally to April 4 and then April 8. Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie reported on April 2 that factors like Medicaid, housing, and education are close to finalization.
The bill that extended the budget's deadline allows state employees to get paid as negotiations continue. New York State lawmakers have been working through the weekend for budget approval with Sunday's session having started at one.
