Man faces murder charge after deadly Vancouver bow and arrow shooting
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A man is facing a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing another man with a bow and arrow during an altercation, according to Clark County Sheriff's Office.
Just before 6:45 a.m., a man -- identified as Richard Vanderhoek -- called 911 reporting he shot another man with a bow and arrow, officials said.
On the scene, on Northeast Petticoat Lane, deputies found a man dead with an arrow in his chest lying in the driveway of the residence.
A witness reported seeing two men fighting in front of the home around 6:05 a.m. and one of the men was seen walking away with the other following in a vehicle.
Authorities said it appears the two returned and a second altercation began, resulting in the homicide.
According to officials, Vanderhoek told investigators the two men were acquaintances.
Vanderhoek was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries and was arrested on a second-degree murder charge.
It is not clear what led to the altercations.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
