‘I tried a dress like that’ Reddit users rant after seeing what a mother of the bride wore to her daughter’s wedding
ALL women want to feel special on their wedding day, but what about during someone else’s ceremony?
Though there are plenty of rule surrounding wedding attire, one woman decide to ignore these whilst attending her own daughter’s wedding – and her outfit has broken the internet.

Family members are notorious for bedding the rules at weddings, whether it’s bringing extra guests, overstaying their welcome or rowdy behaviour.
One mother-of-the-bride has stunned Reddit after a photo of her bridal-style gown went viral, with many users questioning why she would dress like this – especially as it was her daughter’s ceremony.
Originally posted on the r/weddingshaming forum, the photo shows the woman stood never to a fellow guest dress in a princess style dress.
With the lace and crystal embellishments, it’s not hard to imagine the cream-coloured gown on another blushing bride.
Though you’d think she’d want to blend into the background on her daughter’s big day, her deep V-neck gown and her long blonde hair would have definitely caught other guests’ attention.
Even worse, the original poster revealed that the woman’s gown was eerily similar to the bride’s.
They wrote: “Mother of the Bride. Bride’s dress also had bejewelled top and float bottom.”
As the post began to go viral, other brides even revealed that they’d worn similar dresses.
“This looks so similar to my actual wedding dress,” commented one shocked user, with another arguing: “this is clearly a wedding dress!!”
A third, who worked in bridal fashion, shared that they stocked very similar dresses for brides-to-be.
“I work at David’s Bridal, I got three dresses that look like that…. No kidding!” they wrote: “I would never let a mother of the bride buy a dress like that.”
Others admitted that they’d thought the woman was the bride and tried to swipe through the images to see the mother-in-law.
“I looked at this photo twice, and couldn’t see the mother of the bride in the background or anywhere. Then I realised the bride in the photo was actually the mother of the bride, complained a fourth.
Some argued that the woman was ‘unhinged’, saying that dress would have only been appropriate if it came in a different colour.
“My mom actually wore something similar in formality to this to my wedding – more formal than my own dress – but in a stunning metallic navy blue. Because she isn’t a psycho,” revealed a fifth.
Meanwhile there were users who were more accepting of the woman’s dress choice, arguing that her daughter might have picked out the dress.

“Is the bride ok with her mom dressing like a bride or her mom wanted to upstage her daughter without her permission?” the user suggested: “If the bride gave the permission and is happy with it, then why not.”
Whilst the mother-in-law might have broken the golden rule of weddings, many users also commented on how glamourous she looked in the gown.
“Yeah I’ll give it to her, she can absolutely pull off that dress,” said a Redditor, joking: “But she should’ve also pulled off that dress and worn something else.”
We wonder what we would do if our mum came to our wedding in that dress.
