MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski on Monday hammered Donald Trump for multiple social media posts that drew comparisons between the twice-impeached, quadruple-indicted former president and Jesus Christ.
Brzezinski noted that Trump posted a total of 77 times on Easter Sunday, and they included the aforementioned Trump-Jesus comparisons as well as angry attacks on the former president's enemies.
"I think that, you know, the parallels to Jesus, the parallels to himself being Jesus are just the next level," she said. "It is something... to expect from a cult leader."

Brzezinski then contrasted the messages that Trump was sending on Easter with the ones she received during an Easter church service, and she said it was jarring to see the former president try to position himself as an avatar of Christianity.
"He made Easter, a religious holiday, about himself," she said.
Guest Donny Deutsch expanded on this theme and argued that comparisons between Trump and Christ are particularly rich given that Trump over the weekend posted an image of President Joe Biden hogtied in the back of a truck.
"At the same time, as he talks about him being this Christ-like symbol, selling Bibles... there's this ridiculous irony," he said. "On the one hand, he is setting himself up as the Messiah and this religious figure. On the other hand, he's this stoker of violence, of the most extreme kind of violence. I don't know, where I grew up, those two things don't necessarily go hand-in-hand."
