The National Counterterrorism Authority of Pakistan announced about a week after the attack on Chinese citizens in the country that 10 individuals were detained in connection to the attack, identifying an Afghan citizen as the mastermind of the suicide bombing.
According to Geo News, Pakistan’s counterterrorism authority reported on Monday, April 1st, the dismantling of a terrorist network in the country, which occurred on Tuesday, targeting Chinese engineers. They stated that as part of separate operations to identify the perpetrators of the attack on Chinese engineers, 10 members of the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) were apprehended.
The report by this media outlet further states that an Afghan national carried out the suicide attack in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
About a week has passed since the suicide attack on the convoy carrying Chinese engineers in the Besham area of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, which occurred last Tuesday.
In this attack, five Chinese engineers, along with a Pakistani driver, were killed.
Following this attack, a delegation of Chinese engineers entered Pakistan to investigate and collaborate on the case.
It is worth mentioning that according to Al Jazeera’s report, attacks on strategic facilities related to China have increased, and within just ten days (from March 16 to 26), at least 18 people, including Chinese nationals, have been killed as a result of attacks in Pakistan.
Pakistan alleges that the Taliban in Kabul support the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) against Pakistan, claiming the TTP receives sanctuary and assistance in Afghanistan. However, Kabul’s Taliban leadership vehemently denies supporting terrorism against Pakistan, emphasizing peaceful relations.
