Dog lovers everywhere can rest easy knowing their guests will never smell pee in their homes again.
But be prepared for maximum gross factor when you see what dirty secrets your carpet reveals.
Amanda Callender (@mandycallender) shared her handy tip in her post.
“Natural cleaning methods for pet owners,” she said.
Whether owners want to admit it or not, their dogs have probably peed on carpets at one time or another.
It’s an unpleasant thought, but even more unpleasant is leaving it lingering in your carpets and rugs.
Over time it will smell and guests will notice the bad odors.
But there is a solution and it’s super-easy and cheap.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Warm water
- Vacuum
STAGE 1:
Sprinkle baking soda over the affected area.
Pour white vinegar and hot water into a spray bottle and spray over the same spot until it sizzles. Then let it sit.
STAGE 2:
Next, fill a container with hot water, pour it over the same area and leave to dry.
STAGE 3:
Now it is dry, you are ready to vacuum up and you can see how much gross stuff is coming up.
Result: a sweet-smelling home once more.
Cleaning tips to elevate your home
Realtor Stephanie Booth shared her go-to cleaning tips with The U.S. Sun.
- Use dish soap and baking soda to scrub your stovetop and kitchen cabinets.
- Clean your carpets, dishwasher, and under appliances as soon as you move in.
- Make a crockpot potpourri of sliced lemons, vanilla, a sprig of rosemary, and two cups of water.
- Fluff your pillows but don’t worry about karate-chopping them.
It also works for cats, but add an essential oil, such as lemon grass or lavender, so they don’t spray again.
Commenters said it worked for them, even if it was pretty disgusting.
“I’m ashamed of the color mine pulled,” said one person.
“This is basically what I did on my couch and it worked for that too,” said a second person.
“Where were you two days ago when I spent over a week trying to get the smell out of our area rug,” despaired another.
“My room’s carpet is the sole survivor of our last carpet in the house and I’m sure it glows like a disco rave,” joked one viewer.
