One hospitalized after crash leads to car fire
SUNDERLAND, Vt. (NEWS10) -- One person was hospitalized after a crash on North Road in Sunderland Wednesday. Police say the driver was speeding when they struck a deer, leading to the car catching fire after then hitting a tree.
Vermont State Police say the car traveled roughly 500 feet after striking the deer before hitting a tree. The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for treatment.
North Road was shut down for about 45 minutes while crews worked to put the fire out. Arlington Fire/Rescue and Monarch Towing assisted Vermont State Police on the scene.
