I DIYed 2-foot Easter decor using buys from Dollar Tree’s hair and party sections – it’s great indoors or outdoors
IF you want to elevate your Easter decor without dishing out a lot of dough, it’s time to hop to it.
One DIYer’s festive project was the perfect addition to any indoor or outdoor space.
Emma Villaneda (@thecraftedstudioco) made a two-foot-tall Easter bunny out of moss and other money-saving Dollar Tree finds.
She got her project started by visiting the store’s party section where she grabbed two large as well as two medium-sized bowls with wavy details.
Next, she found some floral foam before heading to the hair section.
Rather than settling for simple ribbons, her decor required two scrunchies with bows.
After all, just because she was on a budget didn’t mean her bunny couldn’t be bougie.
Some moss and a bunny face mask with ears were also required.
Once you get home, you can put your DIY skills to the test by adding some E600 and hot glue to the brim of the large bowls and then gluing them together.
This process is then repeated with the medium bowls before gluing them on top of the larger bowls – and just like that the body of your bunny is complete.
If you can’t find dome-shaped foam, you can just round off your cube-shaped variety and glue it to the very top.
Next, Emma removed the ears off of her bunny mask and glued them into her floral foam.
Her bunny was also about to get a major moss-covered makeover once she got her hands on a hot glue gun.
Not one to take chances, she sprayed her bunny with hairspray to keep the moss in place before using the scrunchies as a bowtie.
She seemed more than satisfied with her “cute” creation that was ideal for both “interior or exterior decor.”
To keep your bunny from hopping – or blowing – away if you plan to place him outside, she suggested adding a weight into the large bowls.
Her fellow DIYers were also impressed with how the project came together – and some even had tips of their own.
“I love it! You can also spray paint it a pastel color if you’re not into the green. So creative!” said one follower.
“Such a great idea! It would be so adorable in pastel colors,” she replied.
“I have never thought to just look for ribbon sections hair pieces. That’s a great idea and they have pretty, pretty hair pieces. Thanks,” a third watcher said.
