Crews responded to fire at abandoned bar downtown
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Early Saturday, the Austin Fire Department responded to a fire off 7th Street in downtown Austin.
AFD said the alarm went to a second alarm with flames through the building’s roof.
First responders said the building was located at 407 East 7th Street, formerly the Mug Shots bar. The bar was abandoned, according to officials.
The fire was extinguished and nearby streets were reopened.
AFD said the cause of the fire was undetermined and would remain as such.
“Due to structural instability, Fire Investigators cannot safely access the area of origin. It has been confirmed that the building was occupied by persons experiencing homelessness,” AFD said.
