My house smells amazing thanks to a 30p laundry hack – and it fills the room with gorgeous fragrance while you hoover
A cleaning whizz has shared her fool-proof method for getting your home smelling amazing, without spending a small fortune.
Even better, this hack will help keep your home clean as it uses an essential household gadget – the hoover.

For those who have dogs at home, you’ll know that they have a very particular scent.
Whilst you wouldn’t change them for the world, a build-up of sweat, dead skin cells and bacteria can keep that annoying wet dog smell to lingering around your home.
If your beloved pooch is kicking up a stink, there is a surprisingly simple solution – thanks to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group.
The Facebook post began after a member wanted to know how to refresh her home without exposing her dog to harmful chemicals.
They wrote: “Best way to make my living room smell nice must be dog friendly.”
As people suggested various air fresheners, one member revealed their simple hack for removing bad smells from their home.
It involves adding a small amount of Lenor’s Unstoppables to your vacuum, right before you hoover to get rid of any wet dog smell.
“Pop a small amount of Unstoppables in the cylinder/ where the dirt goes before you hoover,” explained the user, adding: “As you hoover, you get the smell from the Unstoppables filling the room.”
The cleaning whizz then went on to share an additional hack with the laundry item, saying that they also hid a small amount of Unstoppables around their home.
“Or get a small children’s sock, and put a few Unstoppables inside and put out of sight in a corner and the aroma will fill the room. I put some in a sock in my wardrobes and it still smells the room,” they wrote.
Whilst we’d recommend that you check the hoover’s instructions before doing this, others in the group revealed that they had also used the hack to banish bad odours.
“I put lenor in wash scent booster beads in my Henry vacuum bag and drum and my house smells amazing after I’ve vacuumed,” another member commented.
As well as being tried and tested, there is another reason why we are obsessed with the Facebook group’s hack though.
The top tip is incredibly cost effective, especially compared to scented candles – which typically cost over £4 for adecent sized one.
By comparison, you can get a 175g tube of Lenor Unstoppables for just £3 on Ocado and other retailers regularly have offers on the product.
Given that the manufacturers recommend using just 13.5g per wash, you’ll spend just 30p every time you use this hack.
As the laundry scent is said to last for up to 12 weeks at a time, you could get several years’ worth of scent for less than £4.
Sounds absolutely scent-sational to us.
