APD: Man dies in hospital after being hit by vehicle
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A man died in the hospital after he was hit by a vehicle a few days prior in north Austin last week, the Austin Police Department said in a news release Friday.
Around 7:06 a.m., Feb. 1, officers responded to a crash between a pickup truck and a pedestrian, who was identified as Jesse Duer, 39, in the 700 block of West Howard Lane.
Duer was taken to the hospital, where he later died Feb. 5, according to police.
The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene when it happened, and police said they were not impaired and cooperating with the investigation.
The crash is now being investigated as Austin's fifth fatal crash of 2024, which has resulted in five fatalities for the year, APD said.
