POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 61-year-old City of Poughkeepsie resident was arrested following an investigation into a report of an endangered child. The suspect allegedly grabbed a 14-year-old walking to school on Wednesday morning.
Witnesses told City of Poughkeepsie Police that they confronted the man, who reportedly told them he was a police officer. He then allegedly threatened to arrest the witnesses.
A witness took the child to police headquarters. The man was located and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal impersonation in the second degree, and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree.
He was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court. He was then turned over to the State Police on an outstanding warrant.
