The wall behind my furniture was covered in mould – the 35p trick that got rid of it in an instant & blew me away
WITH winter comes to the cold and dark weather…and an increase in problems with mould.
But if you’re struggling with pesky mould patches in your home, then there’s so need to fork out a small fortune…because it turns out there’s a super cheap and affordable way to get rid of it.
The 25-year-old revealed the bargain trick she used to get rid of the mould in an instant[/caption]In a clip shared to TikTok (@taylaajane), a woman named Tayla could be seen pulling her furniture forward, before showing off the grim mouldy wall that she had no idea was behind it.
“Come along with me as I clean this mould off my wall,” she says.
“It was actually behind furniture, so I didn’t know that there was this much mould.”
She then goes on to reveal the 35p trick she swears by for removing the mould – white vinegar.
White vinegar contains anti-fungal and antibacterial properties.
It has around 5 to 8 percent acetic acid which can disrupt the growth of fungus and other microorganisms.
“What I did was I put vinegar, just some white vinegar, in a spray bottle and just went around and spray all of the mould affected areas,” she explains.
“And this took quite a long time, but I finally got there and I just started wiping and it literally just came straight off and I was so shocked.
“This is the first time I’ve had to do this, so I was blown away by the vinegar, which is amazing.
“Then I just went over it with some mould cleaner for the really tough parts.”
The 25-year-old then shows off the very impressive results, with the wall looking almost brand new again,
“All done,” she enthused. “It turned out amazing, I’m so happy!”
Tayla captioned the post:” Cleaning day today! So happy with how this turned out!”
The post has since gone viral, racking up over 11k views and several comments from social media users up and down the country.
“How long did you let the vinegar sit before wiping it off?” asked one.
Tayla replied: “I wiped it off straight after or after a few minutes!”
A second advised: “Use straight white vinegar do not dilute it.”
A third suggested: “Try leaving a gap between furniture and walls as the air circulation should help it not grow back! I’ve had this problem before.”
However, another person warned: “The mould is all the way through the dry wall. You only killed the surface mould.
“The best thing to do would be to remove the drywall and use a hepa fan to filter the air.”
Fabulous previously revealed how experts from bathroom retailer Plumbworld also suggested using white vinegar.
They commented: “Vinegar is a great option for killing mould.
“It may smell unpleasant, but it won’t have the toxicity of bleach.
“Pour it straight onto the spores or use a spray bottle.
“Try mixing it with water with a ratio of 2:1, leave for 30 minutes before wiping.”
