My family of 4 ordered Denny's $30 'family pack.' It was an even better value than I expected.

I wanted to save time by ordering breakfast from Denny's, and I was impressed.
  • I'm a busy mom of two trying family meal deals at chain restaurants to save time and money.
  • I tried Denny's Grand Slam Pack. It includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns.
  • The $30 "family pack" felt like an incredible value, especially since we had plenty of leftovers.

Breakfast for dinner is a favorite in my house, but we don't do it often because it's a pain to pull out our electric griddle and prepare a bunch of different foods.

When I heard the breakfast chain Denny's was offering a "family pack" meal deal filled with breakfast-for-dinner essentials like pancakes and scrambled eggs, I was eager to try it.

Priced at just $30, Denny's Grand Slam Pack comes with everything a family needs for an elaborate pancake breakfast … or, in my case, dinner.

As a busy mom of two teenagers, I had a feeling it'd make a great weeknight meal for us.

Ordering the meal was easy to do online, but I couldn't schedule my delivery or pickup in advance.
Ordering the Gland Slam Pack was easy.

Denny's Grand Slam Pack is designed to feed between four and five people and comes with eight buttermilk pancakes, eight scrambled eggs, four bacon strips, four sausage links, and hash browns.

I signed onto the Denny's website to place my order and found the process to be pretty simple.

My only complaint is that the order couldn't be scheduled for a time in the future, so I had to check my cart throughout the afternoon to get close enough to the delivery time I wanted.

I placed my order once the estimated delivery time lined up with my ideal dinner time.

Denny's was offering free delivery, so I took advantage of not having to drive to pick up our meal.
Denny's kept me updated about the status of my order via text, too.

Denny's was offering free delivery for online orders, so I got to avoid driving 20 minutes away in after-work traffic.

This raised my order total slightly, as I had to tip our delivery driver. Still, the extra expense was well worth it.

After I ordered, it was easy to track the status of my order on the Denny's website, and I routinely received text messages with order updates.

Our delivery was handled by online food-delivery service DoorDash.

Our order arrived on time, but had gotten a bit cold in transit.
If I'd picked up the food myself it may have stayed warmer for longer.

When I placed our order, the estimated delivery time was about an hour. Our food arrived right at the predicted time and was dropped off at my front door by a DoorDash driver.

The food got a bit cold in transit, but I figured that was a result of the closest Denny's to me being 20 minutes away.

If I had picked up the food myself, I'd have placed the food in a temperature-controlled bag for the drive home to keep it warm.

Still, everything was easy to reheat, and there was a ton of food.
Our Denny's spread looked pretty impressive.

Although a few items in our order had gotten cold, reheating them in the microwave was easy.

We microwaved the pancakes and eggs for a few seconds to give them a second life, and they tasted just fine.

I was immediately impressed with how much food was included in the order.

Unlike some other family meal deals I've tried from chain restaurants, I knew this one would feed my family of four with plenty of leftovers.

Our order included eight giant pancakes.
The pancakes came with syrup and butter.

The pancakes that were included in the Grand Slam Pack were gigantic.

The generous portion also came with to-go containers of syrup and butter, so we had everything we needed to enjoy a delicious pancake dinner.

We ended up with three large pancakes left over at the end of the meal, which my kids happily shared for breakfast the following day.

We paid extra to have our eggs scrambled with cheese.
Our scrambled eggs were nice and cheesy.

I chose to have our eggs scrambled with cheese for a $3 upcharge.

It was well worth it, as everyone in my family likes our scrambled eggs on the cheesy side.

Other possible upgrades that were offered to me included cheddar-cheese hash browns ($4), toast ($5), extra breakfast meat ($7), or orange juice and coffee ($8).

I thought the hash browns were underdone, but I was able to save them.
I fried the hash browns the next morning in some butter and they were great.

The only disappointing part of the meal was the hash browns, which I thought were a bit crunchy and undercooked.

The following day, however, I salvaged them by cooking them for breakfast with a bit of butter on my stovetop.

They were just as delicious as any hash browns I've had at other restaurants.

The meal included plenty of bacon and sausage.
Next time, I'll add more bacon to my Denny's order.

The meal included four sausage links and four slices of bacon.

Although the bacon went quickly, we had a few sausage links left over for breakfast the following day.

Because my family really likes bacon, I'd add additional slices if I ordered this dinner again, mostly to keep my teenagers from fighting over those last few pieces.

The $30 "family pack" fed us all dinner — and breakfast the next day.
I'd much prefer to order a meal like this as a midweek treat than make a full-on breakfast.

Overall, this family meal deal felt like a great value.

For $30, we received a ton of breakfast food — so much that we all found a way to eat something from the meal for breakfast the following day.

As far as breakfast for dinner goes, I don't think you can beat the value for the small amount of effort it requires.

Ordering this meal felt like a true break in a busy week, and I loved having Denny's take care of everything for me and deliver it right to my door.

I'd definitely order this meal deal again, especially if I had house guests over for breakfast.
I'd happily serve the Denny's meal deal to my family and friends.

I'd order the Grand Slam Pack again.

In fact, the meal may replace my go-to breakfast for out-of-town guests or my kids' friends who sleep over.

Normally, we run to our closest Dunkin' to get doughnuts for our house guests, but this was a far more filling and protein-dense meal — one I'd happily feed my friends or family members.

Next time, I'd also consider adding orange juice and coffee to my order.

The idea of having everything, even drinks, taken care of feels novel, and after my initial experience with the Grand Slam Pack, I'd be more than willing to pay for an upgrade.
