Fani Willis has discussed plea deals with 6 more Trump co-defendants: Report
Plea deals are reportedly being dangled to more Trump co-defendants in Georgia.
The district attorney who indicted 19 defendants on charges involving attempted interference in the 2020 presidential election is considering offering plea deals to at least six additional defendants, according to a report by CNN citing multiple sources.
Already, three Trump lawyers and a bail bondsman have pleaded guilty under agreements with DA Fani Willis.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
The 11th-hour deals that were secured by lawyers Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro and Jenna Ellis, as well as bondsman Soctt Hall, appear to be just the first guilty pleas that could come down the pike.
CNN suggested that lawyer Robert Cheeley is among those offered a deal, but he turned it down.
Cheeley’s attorney Richard Rice told CNN: “To say that we are currently in discussions with the DA’s office would be an inaccurate representation of what is going on. They made us an offer some time ago and we declined it.”
Prosecutors have also been in touch with former Coffee County elections supervisor Misty Hampton and former Trump campaign official Mike Roman about cutting deals, according to CNN.
Three other unnamed co-defendants were also entertaining the possibility of copping pleas, but CNN is keeping their identities under wraps.
One source privy to the Fulton County DA’s strategy explained that they are open to talk guilty pleas if it means bolstering their case against the 45th president, according to the network.
