My friend teaches first grade – I lost it when I saw the names in her class, people say they’re ‘some doozies’
A REDDIT user has shared their disbelief at the unusual names of some of today’s youngsters.
The content creator was visiting her best friend, who teaches first grade, when they happened to see a lesson plan which included the names of kids in the class.
Reddit user Qujstionmark shared a photo of the lesson plan to a subreddit dedicated to “poking fun at awful names and naming culture.”
The post read: “I’m visiting my best friend who is teaching for the first time! She was creating a lesson plan, and I lost it when I saw the names in her class.”
The lesson plan was a casting list for a theatrical production.
The title of the document read: “Jack and the wolf casting,” and featured the roles children were assigned.
“Demetré” was to play the role of the wolf, while the part of Jack was filled by “Tinsileigh.”
The part of “Nell lead villager” was assigned to “Ly’Rick,” while “Wisdom” was to play the part of villager.
Other unusual names included the part of sheep, allotted to “Tre’Aunna,” and the narrator, given to “Massiah.”
The cast list was rounded out by four audience members: “Mariah, Breyon, Ny’Karius, Kyllan.”
Redditors were amused by the list of names, with many commenting their opinion.
One person wrote: “Those are some doozies.”
Another said: “I’d rather name my kid ‘sheep that gets taken’ than Ny’Karius.”
Some social media users called out the parents for choosing such controversial names.
One wrote: “Do these parents not realize that these kids are going to grow up and become full adults with these names?”
Another posited that naming standards had changed in today’s society, and wrote: “Safe to say kids are not going to be bullied for having ‘unique’ names. It’ll probably be the basic ‘normal’ names that get teased.”
