Robin Roberts, ‘Good Morning America’ anchor, marries longtime partner Amber Laign in CT town

Robin Roberts and longtime partner Amber Laign have officially tied the knot.
“An intimate, magical wedding ceremony in our backyard followed by a joyous reception…ohhhh the dancing!!” said Roberts on her Instagram. “We are immensely grateful to all for making it a day and a night to remember. Honeymoon here we come!”
The two had been keeping fans updated on their marriage journey, posting Thursday that they had received their marriage license in Connecticut. The marriage took place in Farmington on Friday.
“I’m hesitating because I haven’t said it out loud yet . . . I’m saying ‘yes’ to marriage,” Roberts announced on an episode of “Good Morning America” on Jan. 2. “We’re getting married this year.”
“It was something we had talked about but we had put it off. She became ill but . . . it is saying yes to that, and that next chapter,” she added.
Both women have dealt with daunting health issues in the past decades. Laign was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, roughly 14 years after Roberts was diagnosed with the same disease.
“I went through it twice, barely shed a tear,” Roberts said during a 2022 interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
“I’m a puddle every time I think about what Amber is going through. But she is being so courageous and is handling it extremely well.”
“I’m able to kind of give her a roadmap because I’ve gone through it, but she’s also given me a roadmap on how to be a caregiver,” Roberts added.
Roberts was also diagnosed with a rare blood and bone marrow disease in 2012 and needed a life-saving bone marrow transplant.
She first met Laign, a massage therapist, in 2005 when the two were set up for a blind date by a mutual friend. They kept their relationship private until 2013, when Roberts posted on Facebook, mentioning her “long-time girlfriend, Amber,” for the first time.
