I inspect new build houses and there’s some shockers – from loos I wouldn’t use, wobbly ceilings to dangerous lofts
A SURVEYOR as revealed of the secret problems people have in their homes without even realising and it’s shocking.
It seems there is a lot to think about when building a new home and the job of surveyors couldn’t be more vital.
@exact.home.surveys shared a home surveyance in a TikTok video
They said “Issues Picked Up On A New Build Snagging Inspection.”
Firstly the doors did not reach safety standard and were already splitting.
They said: “Starting off with a look at the woodwork in this property. This complete door edge was split.”
“We still have Protection left on the latch behind the hinges. We still have packers left in places.”
“These gonna need to be removed or hidden,” they added.
Secondly it seemed the property had not been cleaned properly after work was completed.
The surveyor said: “Now, this property should have been for at least two cleans before it was Mastic.
“So we shouldn’t be seeing plaster and dirt left all over the window frames. And grit and dirt left in the Mastic.
Next the loft placement could cause a seriously dangerous tumble.

They surveyor said: “We’ve asked for sight drawings to be provided cause I’m almost certain this loft hatch shouldn’t be letting someone have a good chance of falling over the stairs when trying to use the loft.”
The property’s ceiling was completely off level and this was well hidden.
They said: “The ceiling of the property, in places we found up to 40mm out a level.”
“So if you look when we get closer to the wardrobe, the back of the wardrobe was just completely filled with Cork or Mastic. And the front of it was flush with the ceiling.
The surveyor also pointed out the toilet allowed for very little privacy.
The toilet has a wide a clear view outside with a window right next to it.
They said: “And I’m not sure how I’d feel about using this toilet. I sometimes get stage fright in my local pub.”
The surveyor joked: “Morning, Mr. Bricklayer. Don’t mind me.”
