Just Stop Oil eco-idiots funding brazen attacks on artwork by selling their own paintings for over £100k
JUST Stop Oil chiefs are funding attacks on popular artworks — by selling their own paintings for more than £100,000.
They flogged more than 100 works shown at a pop-up gallery featuring art donated by stars including Boy George.
Activist Anna Holland hosted the two-week You May Find Yourself exhibition in a London arthouse.
The 21-yar-old, of Newcastle, was allegedly behind a bid to desecrate Van Gogh’s Sunflowers with tomato soup in October.
She faces a criminal damage trial next year.
Her alleged accomplice, Phoebe Plummer, 21, of Lambeth, South London, featured in a Mona Lisa-style print which raised £7,500 for the group.
Boy George’s No Oil Boy sold for more than £11,000.
The most expensive work fetched £30,000-plus when the auction closed on Friday.
A source said: “If someone tried to throw soup on their paintings they’d probably kick off, especially as they are being sold for thousands.
“Maybe then they’d know how most of the public feel about them.”
Just Stop Oil was asked for comment.
