Amanda Holden takes another swipe at Phillip Schofield as she throws support behind star’s This Morning replacement
AMANDA Holden has appeared to take another swipe at Phillip Schofield after throwing her support behind one of his potential This Morning replacements.
Phillip, 61, was axed from the ITV show minutes after coming off air on Thursday last week.
Since the news broke, many have been trying to guess who will take over from him on This Morning.
Over the past week Alison Hammond, 48, and Dermot O’Leary have stepped in, but today she was joined by Craig Doyle so that Dermot could celebrate his 50th birthday.
During her radio show today, Amanda and co-star Jamie Theakston tried to guess his age and touched upon his role on This Morning.
Amanda wrongly guessed that he was 54, then 48.
Jamie said: “No, he’s 50… do you think he’d be good to replace Schofe?”
“Oh, the big one wow!… Yes, I think him and Alison do a great job don’t they?,” Amanda said.
It comes after last week Amanda appeared to have taken a cryptic swipe at Phillip after his shocking This Morning exit.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge posted a strongman arm Emoji to her Instagram page as Phillip’s statement was released in full.
The jibe – which appeared to be a sign of a celebration – came amid mum-of-two Amanda‘s bitter feud with This Morning’s Phillip.
Phil’s shock This Morning exit was revealed in full on Instagram.
The ITV anchor had become embroiled in a feud with co-star Holly Willoughby for weeks.
Phil wrote in a message on his Instagram Stories: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning, but recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
“I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.
“I’d like to thank everyone what has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
