College student killed in motorcycle crash on Route 4 in Burlington

A 23-year-old woman was killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 4 in Burlington over the weekend.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 25-year-old Manchester man, was seriously hurt when the bike was struck at the intersection of Route 4 and Belden Road on Saturday at about 11:12 a.m., according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said the 25-year-old, riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson, was heading west on Route 4 when another motorist, a 57-year-old Burlington woman heading in the opposite direction in a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek, turned left onto Belden Street and struck the motorcycle.
Jena Marie Flammia, the passenger on the motorcycle, was taken to UConn Health in Farmington where she was pronounced dead, according to state police.
According to her obituary, Flammia graduated from Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in 2017 and was ready to graduate from American Public University — an online university based in West Virginia — with a bachelor’s degree in cyber security. She was expected to begin an internship at The Hartford in two weeks, the obituary said.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to Hartford Hospital for serious injuries, state police said. The Subaru driver suffered minor injuries and was also taken to UConn Health.
The crash is still being investigated.
