Two men face multiple charges for allegedly breaking into cars in Newington
Two men were arrested for reportedly stealing items from numerous vehicles in Newington on Saturday, police said.
The Newington Police Department was notified that two men were attempting to break into a resident’s locked vehicle in the area of Hartford Avenue at 4:54 a.m. on Saturday.
Newington patrol officers responded to the call and located 37-year-old Artemis Sims of New Britain and 21-year-old Daniel Pohl of Hartford near the scene. According to police, the two men were allegedly working together to steal items from inside numerous unlocked vehicles in town.
Pohl and Sims were subsequently arrested, police said. Pohl’s charges include third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and possession of marijuana over 1.5 ounces. Sims is facing charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, three counts of third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.
Both men were being held on bonds totaling $20,000 and were set to be arraigned on Monday.
“The Newington Police Department would like to remind residents to lock car doors overnight and contact the Newington Police Department anytime they see something suspicious,” police said in a release on Monday.
