My sister-in-law wore a wedding dress to MY big day and followed me down the aisle, her mum was worse
A BRIDE was left horrified after her sister-in-law turned up in a wedding dress to her big day and walked down the aisle behind her.
The woman revealed that her mother-in-law took over the plans weeks before the ceremony and even changed venues last minute – leading to a shock joint wedding.
Writing in to the Girls Overheard podcast, the woman said her wedding nightmare started when her then fiance only told his family about the wedding two weeks prior.
This then lead to his mum taking over the plans and even cancelled the venue because she didn’t like it – but didn’t tell the bride of the changes.
However, the situation got worse on the big day when her sister-in-law showed up in a wedding dress and walked down the aisle behind her in a joint ceremony.
She said: “My wedding nightmare started when my then fiance told his family two weeks before he was due to get married.
“He had been telling me his family knew everything.
“We moved into our first home at the same time. His family, I thought were being supportive, asked if I needed any help with planning or anything as such.
“My soon to be mother-in-law then went and cancelled my wedding reception venue and where our ceremony was meant to take place because she didn’t like it.
“She then went to book her own place for us, I didn’t know anything about it until three days before we were due to get married.
“I had to call my venue to confirm a change of guests and they told me it’s been cancelled.
“Fast forward to the wedding day itself, I walked down the aisle to meet my soon to be husband to only have his sister walk down behind me in her wedding dress.
“She was already married but had eloped four years previously in Vegas.
“So I was now having a joint wedding.
“This should have been a warning, but it wasn’t, she was like this through the whole marriage.
“Six years of marriage later I woke up and smelt the coffee and I’m currently pending divorce.”
Social media users were left stunned at the shocking story.
One person said: “The wedding venue change should’ve been the first reason to leave.”
Another wrote: “No. I would have cancelled the whole wedding! You would have lost me at the venue change.”
A third commented: “I think that may be why he didn’t tell them.”
And a fourth said: “I wouldn’t have gone through with that wedding.”
