[Softball] Offensive eruption lands Mora with KCAC Softball Player of the Week honor
WICHITA, Kan. – Six games of video game numbers has earned Friends University sophomore outfielder Priscilla Mora the KCAC Softball Player of the Week award, the league office announced today (Apr. 17). The KCAC Athlete of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Mora put together one of the finest weeks in Friends University history, batting .684 with four home runs and 18 RBIs.
Explosive at the plate all week, Mora's finest moment came in going 3-of-3 with two homers and a school-record (modern era) tying eight RBIs to help the Falcons score a single-game record 25 runs at York University. She also drove in four runs in the first game win at York and got on base at a .714 clip while slugging 1.474 overall in helping the Falcons win five of six games.
Opening the week at KCAC front-runner Ottawa University, Mora went 4-of-7 with a double and two runs scored.
Mora's big week now has her tied for fourth in the KCAC in home runs (seven) and fifth in RBIs (41).
"Priscilla struggled a little earlier this season and has put in the extra work so hard the last month to get her swing going again and has done amazing at the plate!" said Friends softball head coach Suzanne Unruh. "We are proud of P!"
Coming up, Mora and the Falcons are set to play at McPherson College Wednesday (Apr. 19, 2 & 4 pm) and at Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday (Apr. 22, 4 & 6 pm).
Friends is currently battling Ottawa for the top spot in the league and is just one game behind the Braves at 15-3 in the league along with a 27-9 overall mark. Mora's hot streak at the plate has coincided with the Falcons winning their past five games by a whopping 71-10 margin.
