Glassy and tiny again

Very similar conditions to yesterday again this morning at Dee Why. The ocean was lightly textured by a faint north breeze before 0800 when I grabbed the pics. It should be 10-15 kts and easterly by midday. Set wave faces looked to be in the knee to waist plus range and, as with the last few days, there were longish waits. Out at sea the swell was around 1.5 metres from the SE at 8-9 seconds apart.

First tide of the daylight hours is a 1.74 m high at 1045. The low is at 1715. Weather should be partly cloudy with a reasonable chance of a passing shower or two as we head to high of 27. Ocean is on 23 and clean pretty much everywhere according to Beachwatch.

The Bureau says that we could see a gradual increase in size as we head into the afternoon. So, looking at the wind call and swell direction, you’re going to be checking the north ends for the best prospects.

There’s a reasonable chance of some solid NE swell coming our way mid-weekend. The long range models have been projecting this for a few days, and they’re even more hopeful about the size than yesterday. The question mark is what we can expect the wind to be doing as the swell arrives. It’s basically looking like standard NE summer onshores for Sunday. So the morning session is likely to offer the cleanest surface conditions, plus we’ll have a low tide at 0650 and that means a bit of incoming tidal push could be a factor too.

Anyway, always fun to speculate, but naturally it’ll be what it’ll be.
