‘Punchbag’ Prince William ‘burning with anger’ over Harry’s book but will ‘silently suffer the blows for sake of family’
PRINCE William is “burning” with anger as he becomes a punchbag for “cowardly” Harry’s explosive claims, pals say.
The Prince of Wales reportedly feels immense sadness at Harry’s relentless salvos, such as being labelled his brother’s “arch-nemesis”.
But despite the barrage of allegations detailed in Harry’s memoir Spare, “unbelievably loyal” William has vowed to stay silent.
A close pal of the future King told The Sunday Times: “It’s cruel, cowardly and so sad for William to keep taking the punches.
“William is a sitting duck because Harry knows he isn’t going to retaliate.”
“He’s handling it so well on the outside — inside he’s burning”, another friend warned.
The 40-year-old is now said to be focusing on Kate and his three kids as leaked allegations from the book spark mayhem.
But he is likely to be thinking strategically over how the Royal Family can move forward from Harry’s onslaught.
One such explosive allegation was that William threw Harry to the ground in a fit of rage in 2019 – smashing a dog bowl which cut up Harry’s back.
Other claims in the seismic memoir have turned the crosshairs onto William’s wife, Kate.
In an incendiary section of his biography, Harry revealed that in the run up to the royal wedding in 2018, Meghan told the Princess of Wales that she must have “baby brain”.
Harry also sensationally claimed Will and Kate encouraged him to wear his notorious Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party, according to a leaked excerpt from his book.
He says the now Prince and Princess of Wales “howled with laughter” when they saw him dressed up in the offensive outfit for the party in 2005.
One pal told The Sunday Times how surprised they were at Harry’s allegations – given the amount of “s***” his mates have on him that could make it into the mainstream.
“There’s so much stuff over the years that Harry has rung friends up about and said, ‘throw away that photo, promise you won’t speak about this”, they stressed.
Another friend says: “William will be going through a range of emotions — anger, concern and worry — not just for his family but how all this is going to affect the institution.
“But he is staunchly protective of his own family, and he’s not just going to roll over.”
A friend of the royal family added: “William is tough, the family can play the long game in the way Harry and Meghan can’t.
“That’s a very powerful counterpoint to all this.”
