ESPN Brazil claim doctors also diagnosed Pele with “decompensated heart failure”.
Pele has been battling cancer but it’s thought treatment he has been having hasn’t been successful.
It’s reported he has not responded to chemotherapy.
More tests have been carried out today on Pele, who is struggling to feed himself.
Elsewhere he was diagnosed with mental confusion after he was reported to be restless after arriving at Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo.
He has been in and out of hospital in recent months after having surgery remove a tumour from his colon last year.
Doctors are not thought to have put a time frame on when he can be discharged.
Pele’s daughter Kely took to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon to share an update on her father’s health.
She wrote: “Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad’s health. He is in hospital regulating medication.
“There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Years and promise to post some pictures.”
Pele is widely recognised as one of the greatest footballer’s of all time.
Records credit him with 1,281 goals in 1,363 appearances.
He bagged 77 goals in 92 games for Brazil, helping them to World Cup glory in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
