I want to ban my husband from going out – trolls tell me to lighten up but others think there’s a deeper problem
WHEN one woman opened up online and shared details on an issue she had with her husband, people argued there was a deeper problem.
In a recent Mumsnet post, user FluffyWorm got slammed for saying she wanted to ban her husband from going out the night before their son’s birthday.
Hoping to receive support, FluffyWorm disclosed personal information on Mumsnet, a popular discussion site, and her plan backfired.
Her post details her apprehension about letting her husband go to his work party the night before their son’s sixth birthday.
“Usually when husband goes out the next day will be a right off,” she explains.
Although their son’s actual birthday party is the weekend before, she still anticipates him wanting to open presents at six in the morning.

And based on her husband’s previous going out behavior, she doesn’t believe he’ll be able to be present for the gift opening if he goes out.
“They will probs drink until 4 am. It will involve him getting pissed. I don’t think he would be able to get up on the morning of his birthday due to being hungover,” she writes.
“He’d probably still be drunk!”
Readers weren’t following the woman’s reasoning for not letting her grown-up husband go out to his work party.

“It’s the night before, not the day. I can’t see the issue. If he’s a bit hung over during present opening, he’ll get over it,” one assertive individual said.

Other comments suggested that if the woman was so worried about this, there must be a serious problem.
“He needs to not drink alcohol which is a choice and one that is easy to make as it’s the child’s birthday the next day,” a concerned reader replied.
Another baffled reply read: “It’s not fair to make a young child wait until lunchtime to open presents as daddy can’t control his drink and will be lying on his pit until lunchtime.”
