Cold front to hit Southern California this week along with chance of showers
Southern California residents will feel a cooling trend this week, as a south-moving system brings seasonal fall weather, gusty winds and a chance of downpours — along with possible snowfall in the mountains.
The system could impact the region as early as Tuesday night, with rain showers more likely to affect inland communities, though light rain is possible along the coast, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Mark Moede.
Temperatures are expected to dip about five to 10 degrees across the region, with Los Angeles heading into the low 60s on Wednesday and continuing a slight downward trend through Thursday before warming up slightly over the weekend.
San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange counties temperatures also are expected to drop into the low 60s and possibly high 50s during the day, and at night drop into the mid to high 40s, Moede said.
The chance of rainfall is expected to be the highest on Wednesday and continue into the evening. But scattered showers in San Bernardino, Riverside and northern Orange counties will remain a possibility through Thursday.
Thursday is expected to be the coldest day this week across the region, with gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph passing over the mountain and valley communities.
By Friday, temperatures across the region will begin to rise slightly with drier weather and clear skies in time for the weekend, Moede said.
Warmer, drier conditions are expected to remain consistent through the weekend though more rainfall could impact the region on Monday.
