Sea Fever at Malahide Yacht Club
This exciting new initiative will provide club members with a structured pathway into keelboat sailing. Our plan is to provide keelboats for the use of club members, allowing them to develop their skills supported by mentors and an exciting new training programme.
Sea Fever will provide opportunities for:
– dinghy sailors to progress to keelboats;
– current keelboat crew to skipper in rallies, cruises or races and also to access additional crew members. They can also choose to share their existing skills with other perhaps less experienced members through a dedicated mentoring programme;
– adult members to take to the open water with their children;
Sea Fever has a place for you!
Sea Fever promotes the development of Teams made up from Club Members, to take part in any event in the 2019 calendar at MYC. The Commodores Cup will be awarded at the end of the season to the Team who has accumulated the most points from MYC Calendar Events.
How it Works – ‘Team’ Approach:
Each Team will have dates rostered to them for their exclusive use of the Club Keelboat to enable them to prepare / take part in any club event. Team members crewing on other racing boats can also accumulate Sea Fever points adding to their chances of being awarded the Commodores Cup.
Six Teams of four members will be allocated to a keelboat. Team members will at certain times have the facility to have immediate family members accompany them subject to the maximum safe number ascribed to the keelboat.
If you are interested in finding out more, feel you want to be part of a team, or you have a team already in mind to take part, we want to hear from you. Each team member will be required to contribute €250 with the team leader lodging their application under their chosen Team Name with the fee in full to St. James Terrace Clubhouse. When Team quotas are reached, the Club will be in a position to acquire the first Sea Fever keelboat.
Simply email seafevermyc@gmail.com or text 083 0351441 with your name and contact details and a member of the Sea Fever Team will be in contact with you.
