I was naked in Lululemon’s changing rooms when I noticed a camera above me – then things got even weirder
A LULULEMON customer has shared her bizarre story of discovering a camera facing the store’s changing room.
But things really got strange when she visited the same store days later and noticed a change.
A shopper named Taylor Hodgson recounted the experience on her TikTok, where the original video went viral with 1.4million views.
While shopping at a store in Hamilton, Ontario at the Lime Ridge mall, Hodgson noticed what looked like a security camera visible from the changing area.
“Ok, tell me what is happening here, Lululemon?” she asked in the video. “I’m in the change rooms butt naked and realize these cameras can see in my change room.”
Hodgson pointed her phone at a nearby section of the ceiling, where a domed security camera was visible. “Is this normal?” she asked.
Commenters responded with a mix of concern, curiosity, and shock.
“Do you know if it was even pointed at the room?” one asked.
“No, I couldn’t tell by looking at it,” Hodgson responded. “It was just super dark.”
“If you can see it, it can see you,” a different commenter said.

“It’s for security purposes only,” one person theorized. “My friend who monitors the camera says they will only look in the change rooms if they suspect theft.”
Another person with retail experience said, “That’s a fixed position dome camera. It’s likely watching the tills.”
Surveillance cameras in dressing rooms are legal, depending on the locality.
In Canada, privacy laws dictate that surveillance cameras are permissible in dressing room areas with proper signage.
There is no evidence that Lululemon violated any laws with the presence of a security camera. The company did not respond to requests for comment from The US Sun.
Nevertheless, Hodgson voiced her concerns to a Lululemon store associate, though she didn’t tell viewers what the employee’s response was.
To satisfy viewers’ curiosity, two days later, Hodgson returned to the store and posted an update.
“I am actually back up at Lululemon in Lime Ridge, in the exact same changing room I was in before,” she said, standing in the familiar setting.
Then, she pointed her phone’s camera at the ceiling, which was now missing the domed camera.
“The camera is gone,” she said. “That’s where the camera was, and you can literally see that it was taken down.”
Hodgson said she wasn’t sure how she felt about the camera’s removal and was unsure if it was taken down due to her complaint.
“I guess that’s a good thing,” she mused, “but does that mean it was recording?”
“To make you feel better, at my old retail job there was a camera in a similar place, and it was recording in the opposite direction towards the counter,” said one commenter who wanted to assuage her worries.
“Honestly, I think it was a fake camera because they didn’t seem to care about taking it down,” theorized another.

In the comments section, Hodgson said she hoped to find out more from Lululemon’s corporate offices.
“I have sent an email to head office so we will see what they have to say,” she wrote. Hodgson didn’t update followers with a response from the company.
