Central Bank Announces Receiving $40 Million
The Taliban-controlled Central Bank of Afghanistan announced receiving another package of $40 million in Kabul, the Afghan capital, on Wednesday.
The Central Bank of Afghanistan, also known as Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) stated on its Twitter page that the DAB received the aforementioned amount of cash as part of the UN cash assistance.
The Taliban officials of the DAB expressed gratitude for the assistance and urged the international community to have extensive interaction and international engagement with the group.
According to the reports, the $40 million package that has reached the premises of the DAB in Kabul is one of the 4 cash assistance packages to have arrived since the Taliban’s installation to power.
Overall, the figures show an amount of $1 billion 233 million in foreign aid to have been sent to Afghanistan during the first year of the Taliban rule.
Earlier this week, the Central Bank of Afghanistan announced a foreign exchange auction, selling approximately $11 million.
Licensed money services organizations, banks, and other competent parties were invited to participate in the Sunday auction in a statement from the Central Bank.
The package arrives while poverty, hunger, unemployment, and natural calamities are at all-time highs in Afghanistan, causing the country’s people to experience one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
