Venezuela tops Guam 13-1 in five innings to remain in contention for Super Round spot

<p>Venezuela earned their first win of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup today at Sonora Stadium, with a 13-1 game over Guam. The South Americans scored at least a run in each of their five at bats. </p>

<p>Backed by a 13-hit offensive, lefty Luis Anteliz pitched the complete game for Venezuela using 69 pitches to earn the win. He allowed three hits and one run in five innings.</p>

<p>Manuel Bolivar (3-for-3) and Deynis Gonzalez (2-for-2 with three RBI) led Venezuela’s lineup, whit Luis Cova also having a multi-hit game.</p>

<p>For Guam, Peter Concepcion was charged with the loss. </p>

<p>Back to back singles by Ean Lizama and Patrick Alvarez, and consecutive walks by Evan Acosta and Kaiden Weakley gave Guam their only run of the game in the top of the fifth.</p>

<p>With this result, both teams are now 1-2 in Group C. Tomorrow Venezuela will close the Opening Round against South Africa, and Guam will meet Puerto Rico.</p>
