VAN NUYS — A man in his 30s was wounded Saturday afternoon in a Van Nuys shooting by a rifle-wielding man who fled the scene.
The shooting occurred about 2:45 p.m. in the 6800 block of Peach Avenue, near Vanowen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard, said Los Angeles police Officer Matthew Cruz.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, and information on his condition was not immediately available, Cruz said.
The suspect fled northbound on Peach carrying a chrome-and-brown rifle or “rifle-type gun,” the officer said.
The suspect was described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a red shirt and blue pants and a black backpack, Cruz said.
