Love Island fans horrified as they work out how old Gemma was when she dated Jacques
LOVE Island fans were horrified when they worked out that Gemma Owen was just 16 when she dated Jacques O’Neill.
The dressage rider, 19, was gobsmacked when the rugby player, 23, entered the villa and revealed they dated for eight months, a year and half ago.
Those watching at home quickly calculated how old she would have been at the time and took to Twitter to comment on it.
One person wrote: “Something about Jacques age and Gemma’s age when they dated doesn’t add up.”
A second remarked: “I thought the age gap between Davide and Gemma was bad…but the fact that this guy dated her when she was 15/16 is actually something else #loveisland.”
While a third added: “It actually concerns me that jacques is so open about how he dated a 16 year old at the age of 20 like yeah i’d feel awkward as well if i was gemma #loveisland.”

And a fourth said: “19years-1.5years since break up =Gemma age 17.5. 17 year 6 months minus 8 months is 16 years 10 months. Call the police #LoveIsland.”
Gemma, who is now coupled up with Luca Bish, confesses to still having feelings for Jacques, whom she dated for eight months.
Gemma tells the girls: “It’s weird because I still look at him and I do fancy him like 100%, I look at him and I think you are fit, no question, you are fit.”
Paige Thorne, who was left single after Friday night’s recoupling, agrees, adding: “Yeah, I think we all look at him and think he’s fit.”
Teenage Gemma, who has faced a viewer backlash on the show, was paired up with Italian stallion Davide Sanclimenti, 27.

Some viewers found this age gap unacceptable, and threatened too report Love Island to Ofcom.
Fans have also claimed that at just 19-years-old, Gemma is “too young” to be on the show, due to the pressure it can cause.
But Michael told the Daily Mail he doesn’t get what all the fuss is about, as he was in the spotlight when he played for Liverpool at just 17.
He told the publication: “She has had two years more than I had to get ready for life in the public eye.
“Also, she’s a mature 19. She’s a bit like me in that regard.
“I was playing for Liverpool when I was 17, and having to make friends with 23, 24, 25-year-olds.”
Michael added: “The bottom line is, she’s an adult and I have to trust her to make sensible decisions.”
