LEGENDARY Wales and Lions captain Phil Bennett has died at the age of 73.
The fly-half is regarded as one of the greatest players to wear the No 10 shirt for both teams.
He was key in Wales’ golden era, helping them win two Five Nations Grand Slams in the 1970s — and starring in the Lions’ historic unbeaten 1974 tour of South Africa.
Welsh Rugby Union paid tribute, tweeting that Bennett was a “rugby legend in every sense and a true gentleman”.
He also earned an OBE in 1979 and made the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2005.
