Phil Bennett dead at 73: Legendary Wales and British and Irish Lions fly-half dies as rugby world pays tribute

LEGENDARY Wales and Lions captain Phil Bennett has died at the age of 73.
The fly-half is regarded as one of the greatest players to wear the No 10 shirt for both teams.
Wales and Lions legend Phil Bennett has passed away aged 73[/caption]He was key in Wales’ golden era, helping them win two Five Nations Grand Slams in the 1970s — and starring in the Lions’ historic unbeaten 1974 tour of South Africa.
Welsh Rugby Union paid tribute, tweeting that Bennett was a “rugby legend in every sense and a true gentleman”.
He also earned an OBE in 1979 and made the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2005.
