REPORT: Chicago Bears Grab Hometown Kid To Block For Fields
The Chicago Bears have stayed after the offensive line throughout Day 3 of the draft. They already added two new blockers to the mix in tackle Braxton Jones and guard Zachary Thomas. Now they’ve found more depth for the center position as well in the 6th round. Doug Kramer isn’t special in any particular facet. He’s a bit undersized and not known for great body control but has good mobility, quickness, intelligence, and plays his tail off. A true blue-collar type of guy.
Better still, he comes from the University of Illinois, a native of Hinsdale. So he’s a hometown kid. That should give him even more motivation to make the roster. The Bears already have their center in Lucas Patrick but they could see a competition for the backup job between Kramer and Sam Mustipher. Don’t expect the rookie to back away from a fight. As a three-time team captain, he embraces challenges.
#Bears select Doug Kramer with the 207th pick, per source.
