NEXT HOME GAME: The Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks are visited by the Manchester Giants on the 27th can they beat them again? Followed by the Surrey Scorchers on April 1st! – CLICK HERE for tickets!

The 9th seed Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks prevailed against the 5th seed Plymouth Patriots in the British Basketball League Championship 99-87. The last time out between these two teams, the Rocks prevailed 107-96.

Coming into this game, the Rocks have only won one of their last five which was a win against Cheshire Phoenix, ending 102-90. On the other side of the court, Plymouth have won three of their last five, a 16 point win also against Cheshire Phoenix.

The Rocks won the tip and Jordan Johnson comfortably hit his pull-up midrange shot to give Glasgow the early lead.

Rocks quickly took advantage of inside scoring to amass a quick 10 point lead that would be kept for most of the quarter until Antonio Williams and Rowell Graham-Bell hit two shots to take it down to a six-point game. With Boban Jacdomni leading in both points and rebounds, nine and four respectively, and the score 25-19 at the end of quarter one, it was advantage Glasgow.

To open the second quarter, Plymouth’s Graham-Bell scored a lay-up to take it to a four point game and then a further three points brought the game within one point, but Jordan Johnson done his best Chris Paul impression and hit an off balance mid-range shot to give the Rocks their first basket of the quarter.

After a shaky opening couple of minutes, the Rocks got it back to a margin of seven to end a close quarter and a competitive opening half.

Box score leaders for the Rocks in the first half go as follows; Jordan Johnson with 11 points, Boban Jacdomni with four rebounds and Jordan Harris with three assists.

Box score leaders for the Patriots in the first half go as follows; Rowell Graham-Bell with 14 points, Joe Hart with four rebounds and Elvisi Dusha with five assists.

Percentages wise, the ball wasn’t falling in the Rocks favour with the Patriots besting them in field goal percentage, two point percentage and three point percentage, but not free throw percentage where the Rocks hit 10/13 from the charity stripe.

The teams shared the rebounding spoils with 19 a piece, 11 assists gave the Patriots the upper hand in assists but the Rocks, and their quick hands, managed to hoard five steals and converted them into 10 points, which was the knife in the back for Plymouth.

Action commenced in the second half with a hook shot from Hassan for the Patriots, but with slick on-ball and off-ball movement, the Rocks picked up and and-one opportunity to form a 10 point gap on the opposition.

Jacdomni carried on his dominance, picking up a further six points to take his tally for the evening to 17.

Patriots got it to within four close to the end of the third quarter but Gareth Murray hit a tough three at the end of the shot clock to get it back to seven, Bunyan then hit a three to keep it seven after Patriots dented the lead. By the end of the quarter, it was a six point game in the hands of the Rocks, 75-69.

Not much action in the fourth quarter to talk about, the Rocks and Patriots carried on going tit-for-tat with each other, Plymouth couldn’t get enough momentum together to get back into this game.

To close the game, Jacdomni stabbed two daggers into the backs of the Plymouth Patriots to make it a twelve lead and an eventual 12 point victory.

Throughout the course of the four quarters, the Rocks gave intensity on both sides of the ball, offensively dominating the paint and defensively finishing with 10 steals. The team’s awareness is what won them this game, with 10 steals, 14 fastbreak points and 16 second-chance points to pair with speed and desire to get back on defence.

The games MVP was Jordan Harris who finished with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.

You can catch the Rocks next away to the Lions on March 25th and at home on the 27th to the Giants.
