Katy Perry shocks fans as she reveals everyone’s been singing the wrong lyrics to hit Firework for 12 years
KATY Perry has left her millions of fans reeling with the stunning revelation that we have all been singing her smash hit Firework wrong for over a decade.
The Dark Horse crooner, 37, dropped the bombshell during this week’s episode of American Idol in the US.
Katy has stunned fans with the revelation[/caption]Her fellow judge, country singer Luke Bryan belted out her track, only for Katy to correct him- and the rest of us – on the lyrics.
She pointed out: “It’s not ‘up up up’ and it’s not ‘ah ah ah'”.
“Well what is it then, because I’ve been dying to know all these years,” Luke asked.
Katy schooled him: “It’s ‘awe awe awe'” before spelling out the letters A-W-E.
She repeated: “It’s ‘awe awe awe’ everybody, get it right!”
And while she was correcting folk, she also added: “And it’s not fireworks, it’s firework!”
Needless to say, fans took to twitter where they expressed how stunned they were after getting the words wrong since 2010 when the track was released.
One wrote: “Shut up, I’ve been singing “ahh” for f**king 12 year?!”

“So I was singing it wrong all these years,” added another.
A third sheepishly said: “I’m kind of embarrassed!”
Katy has just won a copyright appeal case over her hit song Dark Horse.
A rapper was trying to sue her for £2.1million, claiming she stole his song.
Marcus Gray sued Perry in 2014, saying she had plagiarised a riff from his track Joyful Noise.
Marcus was originally awarded the sum, but then the verdict was overturned.
Despite appealing it, the case has now been thrown out and Katy will no longer have to pay the sum.
