Luton fans sing hilarious taunt as Chelsea supporters chant Roman Abramovich name after Russian says he’s selling
LUTON fans ruthlessly taunted their Chelsea rivals for backing Roman Abramovich.
Blues’ supporters chanting their club owner’s name at Wednesday’s 3-2 FA Cup win were met with a wave of: “Sold in the morning, you’re getting sold in the morning.”
Russian billionaire Abramovich claims he will sell Chelsea as calls mount for him to face financial sanctions following his country’s invasion of Ukraine.
Luton Town followers booed his name and paraded pro-Ukraine banners.
Abramovich has denied supporting Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
But the British Government is being urged to penalise more Russian oligarchs – such as the 55-year-old himself.
However, the response of Chelsea fans at Kenilworth Road suggested he is still a popular man in West London.
Abramovich released a statement on Wednesday to insist he will sell-up for the good of Chelsea and NOT ask them to repay him £1.5billion.

He said: “In the current situation, I have taken the decision to sell the Club as I believe this is in the best interest of the Club, the fans, the employees, as well as the Club’s sponsors and partners.
“The sale will not be fast-tracked but will follow due process.
“I will not be asking for any loans to be repaid. This has never been about business nor money for me, but about pure passion for the game and Club.
“Moreover, I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine.
“This includes providing critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery.
“I hope that I will be able to visit Stamford Bridge one last time to say goodbye to all of you in person. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to be part of Chelsea FC and I am proud of all our joint achievements. Chelsea Football Club and its supporters will always be in my heart.”
Social media was split over the fans’ action at Luton.
Some armchair observers claimed the Championship club were ‘jealous’ of Chelsea and Abramovich.
But others felt the ‘humorous’ chanting showed why football can be a ‘healer’ for world problems.
