My husband and I are in an open relationship – we haven’t been monogamous for 12 years but there’s a reason why it works
FOR MOST people, the thought of their partner pursuing other relationships would be enough to drive them mad.
But that’s exactly what has made one couple’s marriage so strong for 12 years, according to a woman.
A woman has started a TikTok account to share details about her and her husband’s open marriage[/caption] She called her open relationship the “most fun aspect” of her and her husband’s lives[/caption]The woman, who posts to the TikTok account @openlycommitted, has given some insight into her open marriage.
She said she’s been in an open relationship with her now-husband for 12 years.
They’ve been married for eight of those, plus they have two kids, a house, and a dog together.
The woman said their non-monogamous relationship is what makes their marriage still so exciting.
“Being open is probably the most fun aspect of our lives,” she said.
“Even though we’re parents, we’re still dating and get to have these crazy adventures outside of our relationship and come back and share them with each other.”

In one video, she explained that she and her husband are in what’s called a “hierarchal relationship,” which means they are each other’s primary partners.
She added that her husband has a girlfriend he’s been dating for a while, while she is not currently dating anyone, but is open to it.
BUT WHAT ABOUT JEALOUSY?
In another video, the woman said the most common question people ask her is if she gets jealous, to which she replied: “Of course I get jealous, I’m human.”
However, she explained that it’s not about being jealous of her husband with another woman, but more about the time they spend together.
“He gets to go away with her on vacation to Napa and go wine tasting.
“It’s not that he and I don’t do those things, it’s that when he does it with her they don’t think about the kids, or the house, or taxes, or finances, or any of that stuff.
“It’s like a mental vacation that in many ways I can’t give him, but she can, which is wonderful but I do still get a little bit jealous,” she explained.
The woman had plenty of people commenting their opinions and several questions, like one who wrote: “Then what’s the point of being married?”
She replied: “For me, I love being married. He’s my best friend, partner, father and we’ve built a life together but he only fulfills a percentage of my needs. And that’s ok.”
Additionally, someone else asked: “Dating is hard enough when you’re single, why would you wanna do it while you’re married?”
“Dating when married is lower stakes. But the first text/conversation ‘hey I’m married’ before a date can be awkward,” the woman replied.
Meanwhile, one couple’s open relationship was awkwardly revealed when a picture of the husband kissing another woman showed up in a slideshow.
