Lance Stephenson Back On The Court In NBA G-League, Hopes To Return To The League
Lance Stephenson is a nine-year NBA veteran who has played for a number of teams in the league, most notably for the Indiana Pacers, who drafted him in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft. His most recent NBA stint was in the 2018-19 season as a Los Angeles Laker, after which he did an overseas stint with the Liaoning Flying Leopards in China in 2019-20.
Eventually, he made his way back to the United States, worked on his game, and looked to secure an NBA contract once again. When that didn’t pan out, he decided to enter the NBA G-League Draft, ultimately securing a spot with the Grand Rapids Gold (Denver Nuggets affiliate).
In an interview with Betway Insider’s Jack Green, Lance Stephenson talks about providing veteran leadership for his G-League team’s younger players, reminisces about the times he faced off against LeBron on the court, and about his desire to return to the NBA again, stating that he still has plenty left in the tank. It’s a good read, so definitely check it out!
At 31 years old, he’s still got some good years left ahead of him, and now’s his chance to prove himself on the court with the Grand Rapids Gold and show what he’s capable of. Compared to himself at 23-24, he says he’s more mature, has a better attitude, and is more health conscious, with a stronger body to boot. As Tom Brady has proven time and time again, age is but a number.
Everybody loves a good comeback story, and it would be great to see this OG make his triumphant return to the NBA.. hopefully wearing a Pacers jersey, as he’s still got plenty of fans in Circle City.
