STRICTLY’S AJ Odudu broke down in tears after the bungled lift that left her wedged by “boyfriend” Kai Waddington’s face.

During tonight’s instalment of the BBC show, the pair performed the Salsa to Gloria Estefan hit Rhythm Is Gonna Get You/Get On Your Feet.

Things were going well until their lift at the end of the routine.

And because of their blunder they ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard with just 30 points.

After receiving their critique from the judges, host Claudia Winkleman asked the presenter what happened.

Fighting back the tears, AJ confessed: “Oh I just don’t know.” 

But Kai didn’t want AJ to feel like it was her fault and he added: “I think I missed a hand. I’m taking the blame for that.”

The presenter couldn’t contain her emotions as she said: “I’m so gutted because we worked so hard this week.

“I’m going to get emotional. We have worked so hard this week and everyone at home…

“I just hope that you feel like I haven’t let you down. I’m so sorry!”

Claudia replied: “Oh sweetheart, you haven’t let anybody down!”

Fans of the programme flocked to Twitter to share their love and support towards the pair.

One wrote: “Aj & Kai – I’m so gutted for them, that dance was amazing up until the lift. Hope they are saved but at least if they are in the dance off they can get a second chance to nail that ending.”

A second said: “Never vote usually but just did 3 for AJ and Kai coz they are amazing and were under marked again!!!”

A third chimed in: “I feel desperately, desperately for AJ. And if it wasn’t for Rhys being in the dance off so many times, I switch my votes to her. Someone amazing is going to go, but I can’t see the Dan fans switching. #Strictly #Strictly2021 But you’re a star AJ. So incredibly talented.”

It comes after AJ was spotted grinning as she linked arms with her dance partner after confirming their romance.

The two have been sending fans of the BBC dancing competition into a frenzy with their routines on the dancefloor, which have had a number of near-kisses.

Aj and Kai were photographed looking glamorous as they filming for It Takes Two together on Friday night.

Their outing comes after insiders confirmed to The Mail On Sunday that AJ and Kai are officially an item after things hotted up between them on Strictly.

A source told the publication that the pair had made no secret that htey were falling for each other after spending hours together in training.

It follows fans catching AJ liking a tweet that speculated about her and Kai’s romantic relationship earlier in the week.

Last weekend, fans were left hot under the collar as they called AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington’s routine the sexiest in the show’s HISTORY.

The couple dazzled on the dancefloor tonight with their Couple’s Choice routine to Janelle Monáe’s Make Me Feel.
