Reacts: Lakers fans are in love with their City edition jerseys

The Lakers new City Edition jerseys to celebrate the league’s 75th anniversary are a big hit among the fan base.

This week, teams across the NBA released their City Edition jerseys celebrating the league’s 75th anniversary, the Lakers included. Reception around the league was mixed — generally leaning toward the positive side — on each team’s jerseys, and Lakers fans are certainly enjoying their new kit.

According to our latest SB Nation NBA Reacts survey, nearly three-quarters of Lakers fans like the team’s new City Edition jerseys.

The Lakers’ homage to each of the past decades of success clearly has come across well to its fans, whether it’s the homage to the iconic light blue Minneapolis jerseys, to the waistband logo found on the jerseys during the three-peat era.

The national reception to the Lakers jerseys wasn’t quite as strong, though not surprising given the small details directed specifically at Lakers fans. In a poll of the top City Edition jerseys across the league, the Spurs and Raptors shared the top spot while the Hornets came in third.

One fan base that was not a fan of their jerseys was the Boston Celtics, which you just hate to see. A throwback to a time when the Celtics actually won championships, present-day Celtics fans aren’t old enough to remember those days and, thus, aren’t big fans of those jerseys.

In other news that you just hate to see, the New Orleans Pelicans are off to an abysmal start to the season. falling to 1-8 on the season after back-to-back losses to the Suns and Kings on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Pair the on-court shortfalls with the constant off-court drama surrounding Zion Williamson, his injury status and his potential offseason weight gain, and Pelicans fans are already willing to admit defeat this year.

Next up should be figuring out how to get Brandon Ingram out of New Orleans so his prime years come for an actually competitive team.
