ASP World Tour
The Association of Surfing Professionals is one of the governing bodies regulating the sport. They conduct tours and premium events at various locations to showcase all the surfing talent in this world. Participation in these tours and events lets your accumulate points for better world ranking.
Bells Beach Surf Classic, Australia
It is an annual surfing competition held on the beautiful golden beaches of Victoria. It is held during the Easter holidays to attract as many participants and a large audience for the competition. Mick Fanning from the men’s category and Carissa Moore from the women’s category won the competition this year.
Billabong Pipeline Masters, United States of America
It is the annual surfing competition held in Hawaii on the beach of Oahu. It is also the final event of the ASP tour. The competition showcases the talent of the top 45 surfers of ASP along with 16 surfers chosen on the spot. These surfers participate not only to show their passion for the sport but also compete for a whooping prize money of $425,000. Kelly Slater walked away with this handsome amount as the winner in 2013.
ISA World Junior Surfing Games Ecuador
This event has been given recognition by the International Olympic Committee and is a part of the International Surfing Association which is the global governing body that sets the waveriding rules and regulations.
Lion Foundation Surf League, New Zealand
It is the league that was found as a result of the search for best surf lifeguards. This competition is held to find the best in the country. The participants represent the various states and only 8 teams of 10 athletes each are shortlisted for the final Open and U19 event.
Quicksilver Pro France, France
This annual surfing event is a leg of the ASP World surfing tour. It is held on the pristine beaches of at Seignosse, Capbretonand Hossegor in France at the end of September and in the beginning of October respectively. John John Florence from the United States of America was the champion in the event this year.
