Carlos Rodón leads the Chicago 9 to the series sweep in Detroit
Carlos Rodón went 6 1⁄3 innings of no-hit baseball, flirting with his second no-hitter of the season. Alas, after a missed call on strike three in Eric Hasse’s at-bat in the seventh, he drove a double to left field a few extra pitches later, hence breaking up the no-hitter.
Although the no-hitter came and went, the victory was always there; the Chicago White Sox finished the sweep of the Detroit Tigers this afternoon!

Carlos Rodón, even without the no-hitter, was brilliant this afternoon and seriously needs to be considered a Cy Young candidate; the dude is dominant. In seven innings of baseball, Los gave up one hit, with that runner later scoring on a sac fly. Rodón gave up two walks to his nine strikeouts.

In a bullpen day for the Tigers, Kyle Funkhouser went out on the bump for his first career start of a very early, reliever-focused career. He did really well this afternoon. In 2 2⁄3 scoreless innings, Funkhouser gave up one hit and one walk, and also struck out one batter. Unfortunately for him, the pitchers who came after him could not keep the Sox scoreless.

With the bases loaded in the second and a 2-0 Sox lead, Danny Mendick was hit right on his elbow pad to drive in a run rather easily for a 2.12 LI play.
