The Yankees are dealing with a bunch of absences due to COVID-19. They have seven confirmed cases among the coaching and support staff, and now Torres has reportedly tested positive. The good news is that Torres has previously tested positive for COVID-19 and has been vaccinated against the virus, which means the symptoms are not expected to be severe.
Torres becomes the first player on the Yankees to test positive during their current outbreak, and New York held him out of the lineup Wednesday for precautionary reasons. Hopefully, that was enough to prevent other members of the team from contracting the virus.
Torres will also obviously be out of the lineup on Thursday vs. the Rays, which means Tyler Wade will likely make his second consecutive start at shortstop. That said, we’re still waiting on the official Yankees’ lineup. Miguel Andujar will take his place on the active roster.
The Yankees will send Jameson Taillon to the mound against Rich Hill, and they’re listed as -130 road favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook in that matchup.
